Join the FIF Board

We are looking for finance professionals to join the FIF Board of Directors!

About the FIF Board:

The Board of Directors is a collective of volunteers that meets periodically to discuss and vote on the affairs of the organization. A position on the board is not permanent, board members will have terms of 5 years.

The mission of the FIF Board of Directors is to focus on the strategy, oversight, and accountability of the FIF organization.

Expectations

Board Members have 3 primary legal duties

  • Duty of Care

    • Care of the nonprofit by ensuring the prudent use of all assets

  • Duty of Loyalty

    • Ensure that the activities and transactions are advancing its mission

    • Recognize and disclose conflicts of interests

  • Duty of Obedience

    • Ensure that the nonprofit obeys applicable laws and regulations, follows its own bylaws, and adheres to stated corporate purposes


Have passion and experience that aligns with the FIF mission


Be prepared to take on the legal and fiduciary responsibilities


Be available to receive training in the following areas:

  • Fundraising

  • Networking

  • Public Speaking on behalf of Females in Finance

Potential Board Member Roles

Fundraising in Nonprofits Expert

    • Has previous experience with fundraising

    • Worked at a non-profit

    • Leads fundraising efforts

    • Can train others on fundraising skills


Industry Experts

    • Works in one of the following fields:

      • Banking

      • Education

      • Law


Marketing and PR Expert

    • Helps with messaging and media coverage


Program Expert

    • Knowledgeable in finance and related fields

    • Has worked to combat gender inequality in finance


Social Connectivity Expert

    • Well connected

    • Has business and funding connections

    • Comfortable in social situations

    • Good at networking

    • Works to find speaking opportunities and grants
