Create a branch!

Why should I start my own FIF branch?

Financial literacy is a fundamental life skill that affects everything from day-to-day to long-term financial decisions. Our rapidly changing world economy makes financial literacy more important than ever. By creating a branch, you can make a difference in closing the financial literacy gap for women by helping girls build a foundation in effective money management early on.

The Females in Finance High School and Middle School programs aim to help high school students learn about financial literacy and provide them with the social networking and leadership skills needed to succeed in any industry they wish to pursue! Our branches are provided with resources, including but not limited to:

  • Our proprietary curriculum of lessons custom tailored for each audience

  • A community of FIF branches across the country and alumni network

  • Access to our Mentorship Program, where students are in direct contact with industry professionals

  • Monthly notifications of upcoming competitions and opportunities

  • Videos from our FIF YouTube channel

**Note: You do not necessarily need a strong background in math, economics, or finance to create a Females in Finance branch. All we require is that you are open-minded, communicative, and adaptable!**

F.A.Q.

  1. Can I still apply to create a branch if the school year already started?

While we encourage girls to apply 2-3 months before school starts so that they have time to review the materials and resources necessary before teaching, we do take applications after the school year has started. However, if you are applying to create a branch at a school, we do require you to obtain school permission to create a club in order to be officially recognized as a FIF branch.

  1. Who is eligible to create a branch?

Any student between 7th to 12th grade can apply to create a branch.

  1. What if I'm already running a different club at my school?

You are still welcome to apply to create a FIF branch even if you are running a different club at your school, as long as you can effectively manage both clubs.

  1. Do I need to know finance to start a branch?

No, you do not need to have a background in finance, statistics, or economics to start a FIF branch. We will provide you with the resources needed to have a solid foundation before you teach. Our only requirements are that you are open-minded, communicative, and adaptable.
